I currently live in the Stilwell, KS, area, and I have attended both Montclair State University and the University of Kansas. I have spent much time becoming fluent in the English language and realize the obstacles that some students face during the course of their education. I have experience in working with students who have disabilities or behavioral problems, and I am able to truthfully declare that they have actually taught me many of life's most important lessons during our time together! My philosophy in teaching is to approach each student as an individual; this allows for focus to be applied to the student's needs that will allow them to overcome their educational obstacles. Students need a full comprehension of material before moving on in order to retain the information and be successful. Therefore, I believe using meaningful, applicable materials is essential for my students. I also feel that each student deserves a kind, safe, and nurturing environment where they feel respected and important; this results in a greater enthusiasm for learning that I have embraced my entire life. I tutor special education, Spanish 1-4, reading, English, and elementary and middle school mathematics. While not engaged in educational activity, I enjoy exercising, cooking, reading, and taking walks.
